MARKETPLACE 29AD
Continue your religious education experience this summer!
August 11-15
9am - 12 noon (see note)
Because we know that children learn through interaction, a bibletimes
marketplace will be constructed on the church grounds, providing children with
the opportunity to visit shopkeepers, work on crafts and meet tradesmen and
women of Jesus' day. This year's theme is Peace be with you.
Each day we will
focus on aspects of peace from our Hebrew and Christian traditions. We will
continue our focus on Jesus' teaching and in particular his calling us to be
peacemakers. All faith traditions are welcome.
Get a registration and volunteer
form here.
The children will start each morning with a family tribe, then hurry to the
Marketplace to experience all the sights, sounds, and smells of an ancient city:
- Dress in biblical time attire (provided)
- Buy snacks at the Marketplace Inn (gold coins provided each day)
- Create jewelry
- And so much more!
The suggested donation is $10 per child ($35 max per family) which includes all
expenses. The Marketplace is open to all children three years old (potty
trained) and older.
In addition, we have infant and toddler childcare options available so you can
experience the Marketplace with your older child/children through volunteer
opportunities. (See the registration
and volunteer form for open volunteer positions.

Frequently Asked Questions
To make the Marketplace experience successful for you and your
child/children, please review the list of Frequently Asked Questions below.
What will my child learn from the Marketplace?
Interactive, hands-on activities will acquaint children with their Christian
heritage and its roots in Judaism. Students will develop an understanding of
what it was like when Jesus walked the streets. In addition, this year's theme
is Peace be with you. Each day we will focus on aspects of peace
from our
Hebrew and Christian traditions. We will continue our focus on Jesus' teaching
and in particular his calling us to be peacemakers.
What if I am not Episcopalian or a member of Trinity Episcopal Church?
The Marketplace experience is Christian-based and all faith traditions are
welcome.
How can I make this a great experience for my child?
One of the best gifts you can give your child is your time and attention.
Experience the Marketplace with your child through volunteer opportunities for
an adventure you'll never forget. See the
registration and volunteer signup form.
How can I volunteer if I have young children?
We have a great childcare option available so you can experience the Marketplace
with your older child/children through volunteer opportunities.
The Nursery is open to infants and toddlers 6 weeks to 36 months.
If I don't want to take advantage of the Nursery, is it okay to participate
with my older child with my younger child in tow?
Absolutely!
My child is not potty-trained. Can she participate in Marketplace
experience?
Absolutely, with adult supervision. Children under the age of 3 and/or children
who are not potty trained are welcome to participate (please complete a
registration and volunteer form).
Must be accompanied by an adult throughout the week.
What is the supervisor/child ratio for the Nursery? Family Tribes?
Each Tribe will have up to 12 students, a Tribe Leader, an Assistant Tribe
Leader, and a Junior Tribe Leader. Although we cannot predict the demand for
the Nursery at this time, there will be a minimum of two experienced childcare
workers.
What if my child has special needs?
We will do everything we can to accommodate a child with special needs. Please
provide as much information as possible on the
registration and volunteer form.
What if my child cannot participate for all five days or stay the entire
time on a specific day?
No problem. Attend as many or as few days as your schedule allows. Please make a
note on your registration and volunteer
form and notify the tribe leader if your child will not be attending the full
week.
What if the day is too long for my child?
Each child has a different learning/attention threshold. The Marketplace
experience is designed in such a way that you can skip days and/or shorten days
as appropriate for your individual child and still benefit from the learning
goals of the program. Please make a note on your
registration and volunteer form and
notify
the tribe leader if your child will not be attending the full week.
Where do I drop off and pick up my child?
On the first day, each child will be directed to his/her tribe meeting space.
This location will remain the same throughout the week. Each day will begin and
end with the tribe family.
Can I drop off my child prior to 9:00?
No. Family leaders will be in organizational meetings until 8:55. Each parent
must escort their child to their appropriate tribe meeting place to sign them in
at 9:00 when the family leaders arrive.
What is the sign-in/sign-out procedure?
Parents will sign-in and sign-out their child/children with the Tribe Leader or
Assistant Leader in their designated tribe location. Sign-in begins at 9:00.
Sign-out is at noon.
If I arrive after 9:00 where should I go to find my child's tribe?
Check at the church office.
What will my child be doing in the Nursery while I'm volunteering?
They will be playing and being supervised by our nursery leaders.
What should I send with my child?
Students: a change of clothes, a towel and any special needs items your child
may have.
Nursery: change of clothes, diapers, wipes, bottle/sippy cup, food as
appropriate and a completed Infant Information Form (distributed once spot is
confirmed). Please label everything.
What should my child wear?
Children should come in comfortable attire. Tennis shoes are preferred. Although
most of the Marketplace shops will be under tents, sunscreen is advised.
