A Meditation for Palm Sunday & Holy Week Click here. Christ our God, alongside your suffering, you also bear my wounds. I offer you all the grief and worries I carry at this hour: may they be transformed by your love, which is poured out in death for our sakes: Hold us in your embrace as we wait for Easter’s dawn. Comfort us with the promise that no power on earth, not even death itself, can separate us from your love; and strengthen us to wait until you are revealed to us in your risen glory. - from Daily Prayer for All Seasons March 28th - Palm Sunday / The Sunday of the Passion Morning Prayer on Zoom @ 9 am with a Dramatic Reading of the Passion Gospel According to Mark Following the Liturgy of the Palms held on Saturday March 27, 2021 Ministers of the Liturgy: The Rev. Last week we mentioned sheep, this week it is the mighty water buffalo. The water buffalo is actually called 'the gentle giant'. A water buffalo allows a farmer to plant more than four times as many crops. This is due to the water buffalo helping to till the fields instead of the farmer planting by hand; in fact, with a water buffalo a farmer can sow a field in days instead of the weeks it would take to do by hand. People living in marshland areas around the world depend on these gentle giants. A water buffalo also provides fertilizer for the crops, and did you know that a water buffalo can produce milk that is high in protein and nutrients? The water buffalo is an important animal to many! Please remember during Lent to add a coin to your mite box/container for things you are thankful for! Thank you. Bible Basis: Matthew 26:36-56; Luke 22:40-53; John 18:1-11 Key Verse: Ephesians 5:17 Come join us for Church School on ZOOM this Sunday at 9:45 am! Isn’t it amazing that God cares about what worries us?! That’s something to celebrate! On the Sundays and Wednesdays during March we are including prayers in observance of Women's History Month. This Sunday we are launching The Good News Nursery. Mary Johnson is leading us in this new ministry designed to teach container gardening so people can grow small gardens at home. We will teach about gardening as a way of dealing with food insecurity. We plan to give out seedlings to members of our congregation and to people in the community so that anyone who wants to plant a container garden at home can get the help they need to get started. Using recycled containers will raise our awareness about the environmental impact of our actions. We will bless seedlings and containers on Sunday April 18th to be given to our Grab n Go guests on Earth Day (April 22nd) and to our congregation and other friends on the following weekend (April 24th & 25th). Our vision is that, rather than having a community garden on Trinity property, we will have container gardens throughout our community. This Weekend at Trinity: Sunday: 9 am - Morning Prayer on Zoom. Sheep are able to graze in rocky and hilly pastures where other livestock cannot, which makes them perfect for families living in areas with this type of terrain. A sheep can provide milk to families, which means nutrition. A sheep also provides wool. Families are able to create hand-spun wool items to keep themselves warm in cold weather. Families are also able to sell their items and any extra wool they have to provide an income. Sheep can make such a difference to a family and the community they live in. We've mentioned baby chicks and their benefits as one of the animals that Heifer provides to people to help provide food and income. Another animal, or rather an insect, they provide are honey bees. Heifer provides bees, a hive, box and training on raising and keeping bees. The benefits? The bees provide honey, wax and pollen which families can sell to provide an income, they can also use the honey and wax themselves. Additional benefits? The global honey bee population overall is increased, which helps the environment. Most importantly honey bees help with pollination, which can boost fruit and vegetable crops, which in turn provides more food for people. Heifer notes that sometimes it is the smallest gift that makes the largest impact. Next time you see a honey bee outside, consider all that it can do!
